Case Study / Solly Street, Sheffield

Provincial House

Campus Development Management invested alongside the previous site owners, the Hartshead Group, in securing planning and listed building consent for 107 studios and one-bed apartments at Provincial House which sits adjacent to the Northern Campus of the University of Sheffield.

The design development and planning process was complex, involving many design iterations, conservation and heritage discussions with Sheffield City Council and Historic England, detailed archaeological, ecological and geotechnical investigations and several innovative engineering solutions to take account of the varying site levels and listed building.

Ultimately, a planning permission has been secured which will see the regeneration of an historic Sheffield building alongside and linked to complimentary and attractive modern architecture.

Campus were instrumental in securing a forward funding arrangement and after detailed legal dialogue, Empiric Student Housing purchased the site and commenced funding the development.

Campus oversaw the contractor selection process culminating in Clegg Construction being appointed on behalf of Empiric.

Construction is progressing well with Campus continuing to provide development input and successfully managing out a number of development risk items on behalf of Empiric and ensuring the Empiric brand and interior design is reflected throughout.

Student marketing will commence in the early part of 2017 with an anticipated completion date of August 2017.
